Worship

The experience of worship at Prince of Peace is warm and welcoming! If you are unfamiliar with an Episcopal service, there is no need to be nervous when you walk through our doors. Our weekly service bulletin provides a guide to Sunday services, and you will always find friendly people to answer any questions you might have. Please visit our newcomers' page as well. We think you will find the experience of worship with us both joyous and inspiring!

Worship is the focal point of our life together as a congregation. Liturgy, which translates from the Greek as “work or service for the people," forms the foundation of our worship. Simply put, liturgy refers to the prayers, readings, and rituals that we engage in as a community each week. As an Episcopal Church we rely upon The Book of Common Prayer to guide this practice. It contains the forms of our rites and services, prayers that have been refined over generations, and much of the theology that expresses our faith and binds us together. Our worship together, week after week, forms us as individuals and as a community to follow Christ and pursue His work in the world. Each Sunday we are sent forth having been fed spiritually in preparation for the week ahead.
Weekly Schedule of Services
Sunday Morning Holy Eucharist
8:00 AM - Rite II service with no music
10:15 AM - Rite II service with hymns, choral anthems and service music.
We welcome and encourage children to attend all of our services. Nursery care is also provided during the 10:15 Sunday service.
Mid-Week Service
12 Noon Wednesdays - The midweek Holy Eucharist is a spoken service and is typically a smaller, more intimate gathering. It draws upon a variety of liturgical sources and the homily is generally conversational in style.
Special Services
Throughout the Church Year we also conduct a number of other special services, including a Blessing of the Animals for the Feast of St Francis in October; The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols for Christmas; Ash Wednesday; Tenebrae; the Triduum of Holy Week (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and the Great Vigil of Easter) and, of course, highly festive celebrations of Christmas and Easter.
