Our
Mission

Love God, Love One Another

We are a welcoming and open congregation committed to shining light and sharing love in our parish, our community, and the broader world. We hope you will join us on our whole-hearted pilgrimage to faithfully follow Jesus Christ!

A Memorial to Peace

Prince of Peace is a historic church built as a memorial to soldiers of the Civil War and as a symbol of peace and reconciliation. Today, we honor our history while adding our own chapters to a story shaped by love, community, and hope.

Our
Community

Historic Gettysburg Pennsylvania

Made famous by the Civil War battle in the summer of 1863, Gettysburg is home to just over 7,700 residents and welcomes more than a million visitors each year to the Gettysburg National Military Park. In addition to historical sites, you will find a thriving downtown with museums, shops, restaurants, and the campus of Gettysburg College.

A Place to Worship and to Gather

The construction of Prince of Peace Church began on July 2, 1888, the 25th anniversary of the Battle, with the laying of a cornerstone, which is still visible at the corner of High and Baltimore Streets. The building was completed in 1900 and has been renovated and added on to several times since then (see our history). Today's church building reflects a major renovation project completed in 2022.
