Special Services
Lessons and Carols
In the Anglican tradition, the Festival of Lessons and Carols service began in 1878 and was "formalized as a Christmas service in 1880 by the Bishop of Truro, later Archbishop of Canterbury, Edward Benson" (Advent Reflections). Churches around the world now celebrate an Advent version of this special service. During the service, which is typically held in the evening, choral presentations are interspersed with readings from scripture. It is customary for there to be nine lessons, but sometimes fewer are used. Enjoy a few photos from Prince of Peace's Lessons and Carols service on December 13, 2025!

Christmas Eve
The season of Christmas begins on December 25th with the celebration of Christmas and ends on January 5th with Epiphany, but, for many people, there is nothing quite like the beauty of a Christmas Eve, candle-light service. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph are placed in the creche as we retell the birth of Jesus and celebrate the coming of the Prince of Peace. Our wonderful decorating committee outdoes themselves every year as they lovingly decorate with greens, poinsettias, candles, and special vestments. The service itself is peaceful, joyous, and full of wonder. Enjoy a few photos from Christmas Eve 2025!
